LION DANCE CLASS

 

The Chinese Lion Dance is a traditional folk dance believed to bring good luck and good fortune to those who witness it. The lion dance consists (2) dancers. One play’s the head the other plays the tale. Three more players will play the music, drum, gong and cymbals. The dance is performed at all types of functions. Weddings, birthday parties, Grand Openings and Parades. Every year at Chinese New Year celebrations all over the world, the Lion Dance is performed to bring good luck for the New Year. The Jow Ga Kung Fu Cultural Association has performed in every Chinese New celebration since 1968. The Jow Ga Lion Dance is known worldwide and is considered one of the best in the Kung Fu world. In this class students will learn the basics of lion dancing, from the basic story to the many puzzles and tricks that make the Jow Ga Lion Dance famous. Students will also learn the different instruments, from the cymbals, to the gong, and finally the drum. Lion Dance training helps students develop upper body strength, endurance, and rhythm. As students practice Lion Dance, they will begin to see a noticeable difference in their overall kung fu performance. As students gain experience they will have the opportunity to join the Jow Ga Lion Dance Team.

 

 

 

 

TAI CHI CLASS

 

Tai Chi is the most widely practice Martial Art in the world. It is widely recognized for it’s health enhancement properties. Regular practice incorporates graceful, flowing movements, flexibility, breathing, meditation, concentration and coordination. Mental benefits include relaxation, and stress reduction as well as enhancement of concentration. In this class students will learn the Yang Style, soft flowing movements which coordinate body movements with breathing techniques. Tai Chi is ideal training for all those who want to supplement regular Kung Fu practice and those who want to emphasize health aspects.

 

 

 

 

 

SEMINARS

 

Seminars are offered to the school members covering topics such as; Sparring Strategies, Kung Fu Etiquette, Looking Inside a Form and many others. Students will have the benefit of learning from some of the finest Jow Ga instructors in US and abroad.
